Week 2...

This will be known as the week you found your lungs!!! Your crying became out of control, and it got to the point where we couldn't even put you down as you seemed to be in alot of pain....After much backwards and forwards to doctors, and eventually a referral to the paeditrician - they discovered that you had silent reflux - exactly what your brother had! We were given stuff to try in your bottles, but that didn't do much good, and eventually had to put you on medicine to sort it out. Within 24hrs you were a different baby, we could put you down on your back and you wouldn't cry and scream - so life returned to normal for a few days...

However, this was to be short lived, as no sooner had the crying stopped when it all started up again!! this time however, Colic was to blame!
On the upside, We had a visit from Aunty Cherry and Uncle Geoff, they bought you some gorgeous pressys and your big brother builders outfit, which he insisted on putting on while we went for a walk, even tho the sweat was pouring off him in the heat!! Aunty Cherry baked a divine Lasagne and fish pie to leave with us for the week ahead, and cooked a chicken casserole which we devoured!! Home cooking tastes soooo good after two weeks of ready meals!!!

Here we are at bedtime... Mommy with her boys...!

Week 1...

Wow, life sure has been hectic... But I am going to try and start doing a weekly journal so we can keep track of all your milestones this first year of your life...
During your first week Daddy was still home on maternity leave... You were as good as gold, sleeping lots, and waking every 3 - 4 hours for a feed, even during the night which meant only getting up once or twice a night and settling you back down was very easy and trouble free - I thanked the big man upstairs for giving us such a docile, placid, easy going and sleepy baby, quite the change from your big brother who demonstrated how strong his lungs were from day 1!!

The weather was glorious,so we took advantage and took short outings with you and Kyle (who is on school holidays)down to the beach, canoe lake, our local park etc... You slept through most of it!

First Bath

We waited until your cord had dropped off before we attempted to give you a bath. You don't like being undressed and just to change your nappy is a challenge all on it's own with you yelling your head off!!
However, the task wasn't as bad as anticipated, and once in your bath chair, you sat there like King Tut, whilst daddy poured warm water over your tummy to keep you warm.

There was some yelling when we took you out to dress you, but we're getting the hang of these babygro's and poppers now, so it wasn't long before you were warm and snuggy again.

That wasn't so bad!

2 Days old...

The midwife came round for her visit and checks... we both did great.... you have a bit of a sticky eye, which we are told is perfectly normal..next midwife visit on day 5, where they will weigh you. You've been eating like a champ, so i'm sure no worries there, although I am told that all babies lose some weight once they are born

Coming Home

Just a few hours after your birth we were given the choice to either stay overnight or come home. We chose to be discharged from hospital, and whilst your brother stayed at Auntie Barbs, You, me, and Daddy came home to spend our first night together.

The night went really well, you only woke a couple of times, and you hardly cried.... but most babies are sleepy after the birth... and you can rest assured that as I type this, you are 10 days old... and oh boy... you sure have found those lungs!!!
