I wish I could say things were going great and everything was rosy... but I can't lie... the past week has been the worst yet. We aren't sure what is bugging you, be it the colic, the reflux or if it's something else. I have not been able to put you down in your moses basket or cot at all during the day since Thursday last week. On Monday I basically had to hold you in my arms for 13 hours! you would fall asleep but the minute I put you down you would start crying. Thursday last week was the same, and yesterday you did collapse out of sheer exhaustion for an hour and a half in the afternoon - hardly enough sleep for a 5 week old who should be having about 8 hrs sleep during the day.
We have tried everything, done everything, and I now feel we have exhausted all options. Even the Health Visitor yesterday said there is nothing really we can do, but ride it out - as you will get better as your tummy develops and your colic dissappears...
It is very tough being so far from family too, as I desperately would love to be able to have family close by who would look after you while I catch up on some much needed sleep, have a long soak in the bath, or cook a decent meal - with vegetables!!!
Thankfully Lynne, Mel, Heather and Sharon (mommy's friends) have all helped out, bringing lunch over, holding you while I wash my hair, or just sitting with me and chatting...!!! So am VERY grateful to them.
On a positive note.. you are a little porker... you were weighing 9lb's 14oz last week and now you are a whopping 10lb 7oz! You have also started coo-ing and aaahing... and you are focussing on things now, and have even started giving us a smile in response to our smiles!!
And today we managed to get out the house!!! We went for 2 hrs down to the seafront and walked up to the pier where your brother went on some fairground rides, and had a candy floss. You slept through it all which was a welcome change!! Now I just hope you sleep tonight!!!!!

Well, it's been an exhausting few weeks, but it's hard to believe that this wednesday you will be 4 weeks old already!! In a way it's nice to know that we are making it through the first three months - as these are known to be the most difficult - but on the other hand, you're growing up.... we have already put you in the next size up babygro's (o-3 months)as the newborn ones are too small on the feet. Your weight this week was 8lb 11oz, which was a whopping 10oz more than 5 days previous!! You have earnt the name chunky monkey!! and are growing into all that loose skin with ease!
Today we have a 2nd appointment at the osteopath, we have raised your mattress on the one end, we have also changed your milk to a comfort milk which enables easy digestion, and I have started doing massages on your tummy as seen on a link on the internet.
This past weekend we had our best night with you for a while. You went to sleep after your bottle at 8 and then woke at midnight for a feed, and again at 3am. Both times you settled back to sleep easily, and so we are hoping that we are slowly turning a corner.

Yesterday you had your longest car journey... we took your brother (and you) to the science museum and planetarium in Winchester. While your brother ran around like a hooligan experimenting with all the hands on apparatus, you slept, but chose to wake up as soon as we were seated in the planetarium waiting to see the show!! isn't that typical!?

The colic is getting worse!!! Your screaming fits would last an hour or two around 5 - 7pm and then the big almighty colic screaming session would start around 1am - every morning for 5 mornings this went on!! Daddy went back to work the previous week (good timing huh!?) and had to go into London for work a few days this week, and left the house really early, returning quite late, so it was a rather challenging week - leaving your mom feeling rather frazzled!! Kyle was happy with life, as your constant demand for attention left him watching Ben 10 morning, noon and night!! (Super Nanny would have been appalled!!)
We started experimenting with things to get it sorted... even booking at appointment for the end of the week at a cranial osteopath...!!

On the positive side, we started having visitors over, as i'd put it off until now - and it was nice to show you off!!
